On June 12, Bonhams will host its New York Jewels auction, featuring 126 lots—from exceptional colored diamonds and important signed pieces to historic designs from top jewelry houses.
A 14.52 ct. heart-shape fancy light blue diamond (pictured at top), set in a ring of 18k pink and white gold, leads the sale with an estimate of $2 million to $3 million. The ring, which also has 1.1 cts. t.w. round brilliant-cut diamonds—some of them pink-tinted—is expected to attract strong interest from collectors of rare colored diamonds.

A standout historic piece is an art nouveau Boucheron pendant with the Roman goddess Juno carved in white jadeite at top and a detachable pear-shape yellow sapphire at the bottom. The pendant, which was exhibited at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900, also holds a cushion-shape yellow sapphire, and Juno’s headdress and two peacocks on her side are detailed in blue, green, and purple enamel and set with diamonds.

Also offered is a René Boivin orchid brooch dating to 1939, designed with a mix of colorless and yellow-tinted round brilliant-, old European-, and single-cut diamonds. Bonhams’ auction includes jewels from Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Graff, Harry Winston, and JAR as well.

Other top lots include a pendant centered on a 50.63 ct. Sri Lankan spinel, framed by diamonds and suspending a 7.8 ct. emerald and cultured pearls; a ring with a 16.76 ct. fancy yellow diamond of VS1 clarity (estimate $170,000–$270,000); and a pair of Taffin earclips, each set with a square diamond over 5 cts. ($160,000–$240,000).
